Anurag completed his B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from NIT-Trichy in [2025], demonstrating his foundational expertise. Growing up around a Refractory unit motivated him to get into Metallurgy. His early research involved object detection models such as YOLO, SSD, and Mask R-CNN, which he applied during his bachelor’s studies to detect islands of Martensite and Austenite in Bainite microstructures. He then explored powder metallurgy processes and advanced to process modeling of metallurgical systems in the steel-making industry. In his final year, he studied the effect of thermal cycles on the grain morphology of Wire Arc Additively Manufactured (WAAM) duplex stainless steels through simulation in the (FEM) ANSYS Additive Manufacturing Package, building and validating models. Currently, he is working on the numerical simulation of the Solid Stir Extrusion process in AMPRG. His research interests include Additive Manufacturing, Welding Metallurgy, and Process Modeling of Manufacturing Processes.
